The official opening of the new Foundation Diploma program at the James Madison University International Study Center will take place in a ceremony on Thursday, September 30 at 11:00 am in the Memorial Hall Forum. This celebration will highlight the partnership between James Madison University and Study Group. JMU President, Dr. Linwood Rose, will be present to share his thoughts, as will Nick Rhodes, Managing Director of Higher Education, North American and China, for Study Group. Students, faculty, JMU officials, and Study Group officials will be in attendance for this special event.
The Opening Ceremony is taking place during International Week at JMU. Every year, the Office of International Programs plans a week that focuses on people, cultures, customs, and traditions from around the world. This year's theme is "Oceania: The World Down Under" and it includes special lectures and student panels, movies, an international bazaar, a study abroad fair, concerts, performances, and culminates with a Polynesian Luau. The JMU ISC is honored to be included in this special week of events.
We are in the final week of classes before JMU takes a week off for Spring Break. Some of the snow from February still lingers, but a lot of it has melted away. The weather continues to be in the 30s and 40s, which means we are ready for spring! (At least I am!)
Due to the snow, JMU cancelled classes a few days, which meant that we spent the past two Saturdays making up the classes we missed. Thankfully, there are no more make-up days scheduled and we are all happy about that. It will be nice to get our Saturdays back.
